Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is Sealbound?
Sealbound is a digital certificate platform that allows organizations to create, issue, and verify certificates. Certificates can optionally be encoded on the blockchain for tamper-proof verification.
Who can use Sealbound?
Sealbound is designed for any organization that issues certificates — educational institutions, professional bodies, event organizers, and businesses of all sizes.
Certificates
Can certificates be transferred between people?
No. Sealbound certificates are non-transferable. Each certificate is issued to a specific recipient and cannot be reassigned. When blockchain-encoded, certificates are implemented as Soulbound Tokens, which by design cannot be transferred to another person.
Can I revoke a certificate after issuing it?
Contact support if you need to revoke an issued certificate. Revocation is handled on a case-by-case basis.
What happens if a recipient loses access to their email?
The issuing organization can resend the claim link to a different email address if needed.
Credits
What happens if I run out of credits?
You will be prompted to purchase more credits before you can submit new orders. Existing issued certificates are not affected.
Are credits refunded if I cancel an order?
Yes. If you cancel an order before all certificates are issued, unused credits are automatically returned to your balance.
Blockchain
What is a Soulbound Token?
A Soulbound Token (SBT) is a type of blockchain token that is permanently linked to a specific person or wallet. Unlike regular tokens, SBTs cannot be sold or transferred. This makes them ideal for certificates, credentials, and other non-transferable records.
Is my personal data stored on the blockchain?
No. Only certificate metadata (identifier, issuer, date, verification hash) is stored on the blockchain. Personal information like names and emails are never written to the blockchain.
Which blockchain does Sealbound use?
Sealbound uses the Base network, a secure and efficient blockchain. You do not need to understand blockchain technology to use the platform — it works transparently behind the scenes.
What wallets are supported?
Sealbound supports popular Ethereum-compatible wallets, including MetaMask and other WalletConnect-compatible wallets.
Verification
How do I verify a certificate?
Use the certificate's verification link or scan its QR code. The verification page shows the certificate's validity, issuer, and blockchain record. No Sealbound account is needed to verify a certificate.
Can anyone verify a certificate?
Yes. Certificate verification is public and free. Anyone with the verification link or QR code can check a certificate's authenticity.
Account
What is KYC and why is it needed?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is an identity verification process. It helps ensure that certificates issued through the platform are trustworthy. Some features may be restricted until verification is complete.
Can I have multiple team members on one account?
Yes. Sealbound supports team management with different roles. Team members share the company's credit balance and can collaborate on orders.
