Verifying & Scanning Certificates

Any certificate issued through Sealbound can be verified for authenticity. This guide covers the verification methods available.

Online Verification

Every certificate has a unique verification link. When someone visits this link, they see:

  • Certificate validity status
  • Issuing organization
  • Date of issuance
  • Recipient information
  • Blockchain record (if applicable)

QR Code Scanning

Certificates can include a QR code that links directly to the verification page. To verify:

  1. Open any QR code scanner (most phone cameras support this)
  2. Scan the QR code on the certificate
  3. You will be taken to the verification page

NFC Verification

For certificates encoded on NFC-enabled cards or tags:

  1. Hold your phone near the NFC tag
  2. Your phone opens the verification page automatically
  3. View the certificate details and authenticity status

What Verification Shows

The verification page displays:

  • Valid / Invalid status
  • Issuer — the organization that created the certificate
  • Issue date — when the certificate was issued
  • Recipient — who the certificate was issued to
  • Blockchain proof — transaction record on the blockchain (if encoded)

No Account Required

Certificate verification is completely public. Anyone can verify a certificate — no Sealbound account is needed. This makes it easy for employers, institutions, or any third party to confirm a certificate's authenticity.
